Warmth welcome from Café Yagam Baguio

For two days staying in Baguio I and my friends have to enjoy and spend it wisely while we’re out of town. When I said wisely I’m talking about quality time or talking about serious matter. Sometimes we do this on our favorite café back in Manila.

So we decided to walk around and pass through the busy road of session road, to find some place that less crowded.

We found this “gypsy like” café at 25 J. Felipe St., Gibraltar en route to Mines View.

Outside of the café we were welcomed by the bonfire. Good timing cause we’re slightly cold searching for a quite coffee shop in a cool night of Baguio City.

Since I’m very used to fine interior design café shop in the city, I was literary stunned to see this home like café. The ambiance is so inviting like you’re just on your own home.

By the way if you are wondering what is Yagam means… Cafe Yagam was named after the daughter (Yagam) of the owner its an old name from Cordillera and actually don’t have a meaning. The concept of the coffee house was created by Ms.Carla (owner), people from non-profit organization called Cordillera Green Network (CGN). Ms. Carla also said that the whole area are decorated with unique and works from different local artists.

Cafe Yagam is famous for serving freshly Arabica Coffee, which one of the best flavoured aromatic species of coffee produced in the Cordillera Mountains. You can choose your own type of coffee- Roast ( Light, Medium,Dark), Brew ( Paper Drip or French Press) and Strength( Light, Medium, Strong)

We tried their French press and Paper drip with Muscovado on side.

Aside from coffee, the cafe offers Pasta, Sandwiches and native Cordillera delicacies (like, yagam, pinikpikan with etag, pinueg (blood sausage) and binungor (spicy vegetable stew)

Between Paper Drip & French Press brewed coffee, I’m going to choose the Paper Drip because of its light-bodied taste. Also its free of sediments, such coffee is lacking in some of coffee's oils and essences cause they have been trapped in the paper filter.

I really recommend this café to anyone whose looking for a serene yet cozy place to drink coffee here in Baguio. I will definitely come back to try their other variety of coffee.

Check out their Facebook page.
