The Red Fries of 80 Queens

80 Queens x BLK 513

I've been to Eastwood Mall earlier to look for this certain dish I'm yearning for these past few weeks. It's like I've visited every corner of that place, but didn't find what I'm looking for. Frustrated enough I settled for something that I think is worth my appetite. I tried 80 Queens Red Fries! I know I should've tried their Charcoal Nachos, but I hate going with the hype.

Just a little background, 80 Queens is from the makers of BLK 513, you know this photos of Yogurts infused with activated charcoal your favorite instagrammers post on their timeline? Yeah that's it. I have that photo too. Visit my IG account now! LOL! Anyway, that is the reason why if you visit their place in Eastwood, you'll notice that there is no division between 80 Queens and BLK 513. Yun ang chika. Both of them reinvented our favorite snacks and turned them to something cool and healthy - just like how your genius creative parents forced you to eat veggies when you were young. bwahaha!

The Red Fries of 80 Queens is made out of beetroot. It's a root crop that is not so famous here in the Philippines, but is commercially known all over the world as it is rich in fiber, 0 Cholesterol, and can be an alternative for sugar. The first bite is no different from a regular fries, but the more you munch on it, the more your palate distinguish that it's not a potato your eating. There's a sweet beet taste that lingers and can be good for people who like sweets.

I chose a cheesy sauce (forgot the exact name) with parmesan cheese as garnish (cheese on cheese huh?) to go with my Red Fries. My combo is not really the ideal thing, but I enjoyed it with the BLK 513 activated charcoal infused yogurt - I am starting to like saying this term!
